David Duranceau was diagnosed with diabetes at age 11.
By the time David was in his early 30s he, like many juvenile
diabetics, was facing kidney failure.
The only options at this stage are either dialysis or an organ
transplant. By early
2003 David
What makes organ donation such a life-changing event is that behind
the joy and happiness a family feels upon receiving the organs, they
always knew that there is another family out there grieving over the loss
of a loved one, a loved one that most likely left them too soon.
In our hearts, we could only imagine the incredible decision the
family had faced. In July of
2003, our family would be faced with the same decision.
On the evening of July 9th, David awoke with a numbing in his arm
which quickly began to spread along the left side of his body.
A rush to the emergency room was not enough to save David’s life.
On July 10, 2003, David Duranceau died of an intra-cranial
hemorrhage, a condition not related to his transplant.
It was now our family’s turn to face the other side of organ
donation. Without hesitation,
following David’s wishes, we made the decision to donate his organs.
David was a husband,
brother, son, uncle, and friend. Through
David, our family experienced the joy and the sorrow of organ donation. From that experience, our goal has become to help others
families facing those same decisions.
Out of that experience, we ask for your support of the David
Duranceau Memorial Fund Golf Classic.
